Team Teleport is a truly awesome group of people, and we don’t want to keep it only to ourselves! Every now and then, we’ll introduce a team member to help you get to know us better and understand who’s behind the products you use and love. Instead of starting from the first employee, we decided to kick it off with the latest addition to the team - everyone, say hi to Julie!

What do you do at Teleport?

I joined Teleport as UI Designer. My mission here is to make our products as beautiful as possible while providing a seamless user experience.

What were you up to before and what made you decide to join us?

Before Teleport, I worked for amazing tech companies such as Deezer and Dailymotion. I also worked as a freelancer for awesome clients. The last project I worked on was an open source e-commerce solution called PrestaShop. I decided to join Teleport because it has an interesting challenge and I’m totally into the work culture it is promoting.

You’re our newest team member - what’s your impression of the team so far?

Talented (and funny). People are able to ship things quickly.

Where are you originally from, and where do you currently live? Why?

I currently live not that far from where I come from. I grew up in the Paris suburbs (more exactly in Seine Saint Denis) and I’m currently living in Montmartre fulfilling my dream of being a romantic.

How much have you traveled and what are some of your favourite locations around the world?

I’ve not traveled as much as I wish I had. My favorite destinations are Norway (Oslo and Bergen), Los Angeles (don’t ask me why, this city feels like home) and London. I’m more of a city person as you can see.

Can you think of an experience or important moment you wouldn’t have had without traveling or moving around?

When I was 19, I bought a plane ticket to go to Los Angeles. It was my first trip without friends or family and I barely spoke English at the time. People there were so welcoming and helpful, it was life-changing. I « magically » learned how to speak English there because I had no choice. I couldn’t think of a better way to get to know a city.

If you could move anywhere in the world, where would you go?

I honestly have no idea. I’d like to go to New York because I’ve never been there before. Staying a few months would be a great experience I’m sure.

You’re one of our remote team members. Share some of your tips for successful remote work?

Wake up early in the morning. Get out of your home at least 1 or 2 times a day. Be patient.

What do you do in your spare time?

I work on personal projects, order way too many things online and get new tattoos.

Tell us a fun fact about yourself that most people don't know?

I'm 29 even though I look like a teenager.

What would you say to all of our users if you could?

You’re the most important element of our work so never hesitate to give us honest feedback about what we’re doing.

Do you have a book/podcast/TV show/movie/cultural experience recommendation you’d like to share?

Have a hot chocolate and read The Tipping Point by Malcolm Gladwell.
