Any good French classes in Lyon?

Hi, I'm considering a move to Europe (maybe France), but I am a bit worried about the language barrier. Are there some intensive French courses available in Lyon?

Currently I have only taken some lessons on Duolingo, so I'm far from proficient. How long would it take to reach relatively decent professional proficiency in French if I do evening classes a few times per week?

Hi. Yes, there are places here where you'll be able to learn french. It's true that french is not the easiest language to learn BUT, I've an example for you. I work with a Syrian girl since few months, she took 1 course by week during 3/4 months and she was able to do what she needed (with a little help some times :p). Now she understand french very well and she is able to have a conversation during 20/30 minutes without any problems.

Hi Akana!

To get French classes, you can sign up at the universities (it is possible only for French classes, and the course is called FLE, Français Langue Étrangère). Otherwise you can look out for associations that teach French to those who just arrived and need to learn quickly.
This said, I don't know about the cost of those classes.
If you have French mates, or a job involving speaking in french everyday, you might be at ease with the language in 6 months, but if you just rely on the classes it could take years...
