Do people speak good English in Vienna?

Hi guys! I'm considering spending some time in Vienna this spring, but I'm unsure what the level of English is like among residents... Can you generally get around and meet people without knowing German?

Hey Sasha! The residents who live in Vienna have a good understanding of English and also like to speak it It's no problem to communicate with them We are a really outgoing and friendly folk

Yes, should be no problem - most (especially young) people understand and speak English pretty ok.

Hi Sasha,

nice to hear that u are thinking of coming to Vienna. Well, amongst most of young people you'll see that there will not be any problems w/ communication - Vienna claims to be an international city, we have a pretty high amount of exchange students here from all around. though people sometimes are a bit scared to speak (i.e. to english natives) because they are scared of making language mistakes.

In bars and restaurants you wont have any problems, of course this depends on where u go. also you will find your way in grocery stores etc.
