Does Bangkok have good hospitals?

I've heard that many places in Asia have pretty good healthcare options for a reasonable price, at least compared to prices in the west. Is that true for Bangkok? Are there any particular hospitals that you would recommend, where the staff speaks good English?

Yes, Bangkok being a mega-city has many very good hospitals where the staff speaks good English. The area surrounding Sukkkumvit Road and Asoke Road is a very good place for international Hospitals. I hope this answer your question and concerns.

Hey Bernice, I'm a British guy that lived in Bangkok for 6 years.

Me and my wife used several different hospitals for things that were routine. Also some less routine stuff like I had an appendectomy in a hospital called Paolo, and our son was born in Samitivej (which is one of the more expensive hospitals).

The care that we received even at some of the cheaper hospitals was really good and at a very reasonable price compared to private healthcare in the UK.

Most of the hospitals are setup for medical tourism and there will be someone there that speaks English, sometimes they have a translator. But at some of the most well known hospitals like Samitivej, Bumrungrad and Bangkok Hospital most of the doctors speak good English themselves.

I can personally recommend Samitivej, they were great from start to end and all the doctors spoke really good English. Although as I said they're not the cheapest.

Yes of course! You can find some very good hospitals and clinics in the city.
Private or not. It's not so expensive and trustable!

and they have packages too.. like Bangkok Hospital has lots of UAE people.. they bought package just to stay for healthcare check

I have used a lot of hospitals here over the last 30 years. Most are pretty good. The top4 would be Bumrungard, Bangkok Hospital, BNH and Samitivej. (For Children I prefer Samitivej Srinakarin.) The are all world class hospitals with the very latest technology and some very well trained doctors. Even these, which are expensive by local standards, are cheaper than Europe and a lot cheaper (about 30-40% or more) than US hospitals. If you are going for major operations then these are the best. For day to day stuff there are 2nd and 3 tier hospitals that are still very good and probably 30% cheaper than these. You can get health insurance that will cover you in Thailand or Asia that is pretty reasonable compared to policies at home too if you plan on living here.
