How can I find a job from abroad?

Do you have any suggestion for how to find a job in Amsterdam from my home country, Italy?

Hi,

I think for every person it is a bit different. It also depends on the type of work you are looking for.

In my opinion one of the first things you should do is go online, and look for vacancies. Search for work/jobs you would like to do in Amsterdam and see the results. Have a relevant, up-to-date résumé available so you can apply to anything that suits you.
Another way, depending on what you are looking for, is to schedule a trip to Amsterdam so you can go and apply for work in person. This works well for restaurants, service jobs or places where you can easily walk in and talk to a manager. This gives you a chance to experience the city and the surroundings. Keep in mind you probably won't get a position on your first trip, but hopefully you will receive an email once you are back home and have time to organize your move to a new country.

It also helps to look for communities where people share these types of problems/experiences and can give some advise and support. I would suggest To find this through online, social media and apps such as Teleport.

Amsterdam is a very international city that offers opportunities to lots of different people and needs.

Indeed, I am on the same thought as Timothey, it very much depends on what kind of job you are looking for.

In most cases though, having some mutual contact to the person hiring in the company you would like to work in makes the most impact on actually securing a job. If you have a good many connections on LinkedIn built up you can look for mutual connections when you find the hiring manager at a company you like.

Thanks to you all for three precious tips!

My concernes were mostly about the social security number. I read on dedicated websites that, obviously, having already residence and a ssn in the Nederland it gets easier to be taken into consideration for a job.
But since I just started thinking to relocate, I'm trying to learn something more.

Thanks Lisanne, I'll take into consideration, but I have no experience.. i'm an executive assistant! But maybe they need one in the Italian food market in NL!
