How developed is the craft beer scene in Lisbon?

I'm not really expecting the find the same selection and availability of craft beers as in the US or Northern Europe, but are there at least a few decent craft beer bars with a reasonable selection and prices? And is it easy to find supermarkets with a decent selection of craft beers in central Lisbon? (Specific recommendations appreciated.)

Are there some solid Portuguese options in addition to whatever is imported? Not talking about Super Bock Abadia or anything of that sort

Hi Thomas,

Lisbon is a big city. Sure you won't find every bar with a dozen beer selections but there are specialized bars for that. I think honestly it's getting there, but you won't see many selections of beer on a common bar, generally you'll get that wine.

Thanks @Mario_Pereira ! Do you have any specific recommendations for bars/supermarkets with a good selection? Last time I stayed in Lisbon for a few months (beginning of 2015), I visited O Purista Barbière a few times. They at least had some decent imported beers, but no local craft beers. Has anything better emerged since then?

Cerveteca has a nice selection, you can try it out https://www.facebook.com/cervetecalisboa/. And it's in Princepe Real, which is a nice place to have a pint.

In 2016, I went to the Pátio da Cerveja, a craft beer festival in Lisbon (https://lisbom.org/2016/05/10/patio-da-cerveja/). Some nice beers but definitely still a lot of room for improvement. However, the craft beer scene here is really developing. Recently, I've been to the brewery space of Dois Corvos and I've also tried some beers in the Duque brew pub and in the Taverna Medieval and I was quite surprised by the quality of some of the beers...
