I know all the latest is that the UK economy is doing better than anyone expected and Brexit shouldn’t be a big problem for a couple of years, but would Liverpudlians say that the local job market is staying buoyant?

It depends on your field really, I work in Software Engineering and have friends in similar fields and in medicine / bio sciences and none of us have ever had any difficulty finding work. I'd check LinkedIn and other job search websites to see what your field is represented like in Liverpool.
