I'm 66 years old I'm living on Social Security /disability I'm trying to find a place in the United States
It's Inexpensive, politically liberal, tolerant of gays
I also have a good amount of savings. My boyfriend, he's 27 years old and from the Philippines. I want a warm climate.
I have lived in Miami, Orlando, Tampa, Los Angeles, Baltimore, and I'm currently residing in San Antonio. A little too conservative here, too Republican for a progressive (the young Turks)
I'm open to suggestions but I'm putting the southeast USA,
I've considered New Orleans, Tampa in Austin Texas(I know that's not Southeast) if you have a suggestion… I'm happy to listen.

Austin is definitely a more liberal/progressive parts of Texas, but it is also one of the most expensive places to live in Texas. Real estate in general has curved sharply upward in the area in the last couple of years, so you will need to account for that. Lots of tech and tech startups here, so if your looking for a job in those fields you will be fine. Also, like most of Texas, Austin has very poor public transportation infrastructure and the traffic seems to be extra bad here.
However, it is a really fun city with lots of character and the people are generally friendly and eclectic. I would definitely suggest coming up for a week or two to visit and see what you think!

Austin is everything you are looking for except affordable. In a solidly red state, Austin is an oasis of blue. The population is diverse and accepting and there is loads of cultural and social activities to participate in. There are uncountable greenbelt and natural areas and festivals galore, both musical and otherwise. But in the 5 years we've been here, the population has exploded at such a rate that housing has become limited and rent has doubled.
I believe that growth is expected to double in the next 20 years. We moved here to get away from the constantly growing Dallas area and have found ourselves in basically the same boat.
I will say however that Austin is doing a brilliant job predicting and planning for its growth with roadway and property inprovements planned and implemented years before they're needed.
I would say I'll never live anywhere else, I love it so much here but if the housing market doesn't ease up soon we'll be forced to relocate.
