Is English or Maltese most common?

Hi there! I'm wondering if English or Maltese is most common in daily life... When you hear people around you having conversations, would it me mostly Maltese, English or an even mix? Is it different in Valletta compared to the rest of Malta?

And can you get by easily living in Malta knowing only English? I'm thinking about getting information from government websites, making local friends, and so on...

Most people speak Maltese in their daily lives but will have no problem speaking English. Most of my colleagues are foreign who only speak English so you'll be ok.

Yes mostly Maltese but everybody can speak some level of English, I wouldn't be concerned about that. My fiance has lived in Malta all his life without speaking any maltese. With the recent boost in foreign companies in Malta it has become more common to meet people who don't speak maltese
Valletta is no different to anywhere else in Malta either
