As any other city there are parts that are safer than others, still you have to be careful in every part of the city since 4 years ago the amount of robberies has increased a lot. They won't try to kill you or kidnap you, but if you for example walk in the city while texting on your cell phone, they might try to grab it from your hand and run.
Also, if you need to go to ATM, be careful to not show money in the street, keep everything on your pockets and be alert of your sorroundings. The targets are normally women alone or older people, and they focus more on robbing a business than an individual, unless they see this individual very vulnerable and easy to rob.
If you keep alert, you should be fine and you can walk during day or night as there is a lot of movement, at least on the night life populated area.
