It's sort of a mixed bag. Orlando is in the South, so it's more conservative than a New York City, Boston, etc. But it's more liberal than most of the rest of Florida. Especially because Orlando's economy relies heavily on tourism I think there's more tolerance for foreigners than you'd find in most other parts of the state, for example.
Dress tends to be casual.
If you like city living, there are some wonderful places within the City of Orlando itself (although they tend to be expensive).
