Is there any schools where I can learn Spanish for free?

Hello all, I am living in Barcelona with my wife. I know it is time for me to learn Spanish but some schools charge a lot for the Spanish courses. As my salary is not very high, I don't have extra to spend for a course in these schools. If there are free courses or low-cost courses in Barcelona, I would appreciate if anyone can give me some information.

I live in Sitges and I know from a friend that the Ajuntament provides language classes for residents, for free (well, they're paid from our taxes). There's Catalan for sure -- and there should be Castellano as well. Check with the Ajuntament of Barcelona.

Hi,
If you want a cheap way to learn Spanish I suggest you to try the language exchanges.
You meet with a Spanish speaker, lets say twice every week, and in one meeting you both only speak in Spanish and in the second meeting you only speak English (or any other language that you master and the native want to learn).

You will aquire a lack of grammar, but in the other hand your speaking abilities will become very fluid. If you later want to learn the grammar it will be easier though.
