Is Zagreb a safe city?

As any large city I'm sure Zagreb has both safe and less safe areas... But are there certain neighborhoods to avoid at night or in general? And does the city as a whole feel safe to walk around at night as a woman walking alone?

Yes, Zagreb is very safe. Nothing will happen to you in any area at any time. If someone attacks you, probability is as of lightning strike.

Zagreb is safe city. You can walk anywhere. Avoid dark streets,(because lately there are some refuges, and they attack women). But best things are in places which are safe and there is no problem to walk alone.

Yes there are some "bad" areas like (Dubrava, Lanište, Srednjaci-Knežija)
The center of the City is very safe, Črnomerec, Vrapče, Jarun....
but in general it's safe all around for every one, even for feminem guys, i know because i have a friend that's gay and he never had any problems.

Yes, I'd say it is. Lived there for a decade and never once felt unsafe or something like that. I heard that eastern side is a bit unsafe and have some suspicious neighborhoods but I honestly don't belive that. If you are near city centre, I can assure you that you can walk the streets alone at 3 AM. The city doesn't have high crime rate although the corruption is high and population is almost a million so you may pass by some not well mannered people, gipsys etc, but you have nothing to worry about cuz it is pretty insignificant.

Zagreb is safer than average compared to most other European capitals. Incidents of street crime such as muggings are rare. Visitors usually spend their time in the city centre or in the slightly larger historic area around it, which are pretty safe to walk around at night.

There are some seedy places here and there, but these are mostly bars and night clubs which are farther away from the city centre. I am not a woman but I did have the chance to walk at night around Manhattan and Paris and I can say Zagreb feels much safer - and also emptier - in comparison.

If you just go where you see regular people hanging around, and avoid the usual seedy spots such as the occasional strip club or the main bus/train stations, you should be perfectly fine.
