New Zealander Moving to Budapest - Visa/Residency options?

I am a New Zealand Citizen, currently residing in London, UK but planning to move to Budapest, Hungary to join my Hungarian boyfriend there.

I was hoping there might be somebody out there who could assist with a few questions I have on immigration? I have done some research but I find it quite difficult to obtain any information on the rules and regulations around each visa... for example: I know that I can move to Hungary on a 12 month working holiday scheme, but I cannot find the rules and guidelines around that particular visa? I also know there is an option to move to Hungary on a family unification visa, but I cannot find the guidelines around what constitutes 'family'?

Also - can I get a job as a Personal Assistant or Office Manager speaking only English (at a multinational corporation?)

Hey Lucy!

Why do you think that you need visa to move to Hungary? As far as I know there is no need for visa to move here. You only have to register to an immigration office if you wish to stay for a longer period.

Or did I miss something, did this change since BREXIT?

Hi Lucy

I am not sure about the Visa but you can call the Hungarian Embassy in the UK and I am sure they can provide you the right answers.
In this case family will mean wife/husband and children.

I am not sure if it helps but we have a similar experience.
My boyfriend moved from the UK to Hungary almost a year ago. He had already started looking for jobs while he was still living in the UK. He doesn't speak Hungarian but he found a job at an American company. Plenty of Hungarians work there but the business communication is in English. I don't think you should be worried about it but it worth applying for jobs. For example, my boyfriend had his job interviews in their London office.

Hi Lucy just google immigration office Budapest and you will find all info there. Site is also in English. About the work with English yes it is possible work only with English, more languages u speak better of course but English is enough.u don't need Hungarian language in lots of companies.I am not Hungarian and only speak a few sentences in Hungarian and it's ok.most of the people speaks English.
