London is, of course, known for its rain. However, the reason why British people talk about the weather a lot is because it can change regularly - I’ve witnessed cloudy skies, sun, rain and snow, all in one day! Our seasons, however, do stick with a general pattern, and, to answer your question, the winter months can get quite dark and dreary, especially after the festivities of Christmas have gone, and you’re having to get up and go to work in the dark on a cold and windy January morning. I have some friends who have Seasonal Affective Disorder, and they do find these times of year difficult. However, there are various ways they deal with it - including the use of lightboxes, seratonin, ensuring that they get decent sleep and lead a healthy lifestyle, and keeping sociable with friends. Here in London, it’s March at the moment, the days are getting longer, and the sun is making a regular appearance, so it’s beginning to look a lot better.
