What is a good neighborhood to raise kids near the Research Triangle?

Looking for a good neighborhood to move in to raise kids. I'd be working near the Research Triangle. But I would also like to be close to the various universities near by.

Cary and Morrisville are both great communities around RTP and convenient to both Raleigh and Chapel Hill/Durham (NCSU, UNC and Duke). Both spots are great for kids, with tons of schools, shopping and restaurants. Cary has more historic spots while Morrisville is the newer development. Briar Creek is also fairly centralized and has affordable housing and lots of shops but it's somewhat remote and won't give you that local feel.

Most people that move here with kids are concerned about making sure their kids have access to good schools. If that is your primary concern then Cary or Carrboro/Chapel Hill would be the best. If you also want to be close to a university then Carrboro/Chapel Hill is home to UNC Chapel Hill, one of the top public universities. But if commuting is an issue you may want to look at Cary instead. It is closer to RTP.

I live in Morrisville and I love it. It's close enough to RTP to get there quick, but theres little to no crime there. There is a high Asian/Indian population but the people are all friendly and there's plenty to do to not drag you into Raleigh if you don't have to go. It's not Hipstery or college kids. just small town feeling still. Plenty of places to eat, shop, movie theater, etc. The colleges are all within a 20 minute drive if you needed. It's growing fast but Morrisville Elementary is a great school. I think we've had maybe 2 murders in the last 6 years

Hey John! Did you end up moving to Raleigh-Durham? If so, where? Would love to know how these suggestions panned out.
