What is the best way to bring pets to London?

I would like to take my dog with me to London, however I have discovered that it is quite complicated: one cannot fly with pets to London, pets can be brought only with train/cars. What is the best way to do it? Thanks!

You can fly into London with pets but they need to be in the luggage hold, whether airlines will allow this or not is up to them. Your pet will need a passport, micro chipping and proof they do not have rabies (potentially other things, you will have to research this).

Additionally, be aware finding a rental property with pets in London is VERY difficult. Most landlords do not allow even goldfish. They won't even consider your application if you say you have a pet.

Friends of mine drove their two cats up from Spain. If you're not from Europe, you might want to consider flying to Paris or Brussels and taking the Eurostar train. Both will be more hassle for you but noone will bother you because of the pets.

We have the same issues taking pets on holiday and returning to London. We will fly back into Paris (or more nearby France) where we can pick up the train into London.
