I understand that Manila often has major amenities, things like shopping malls, and even expensive neighborhoods, plopped right next to run-down, high crime areas. Which areas of Manila would you say are really safe, far from any rough, high crime spots, especially for an expat?
Expats usually live in Bonifacio Global City (BGC). The place is fairly safe and walkable. Most of the things you need will most probably be found inside of the area.
Disadvantage though is it’s getting harder to go in and out of the area, as there are only a few main road connecting BGC to the other areas.
Hi Donald,
Depends on where you want to work or put up a business. Most expats live in Taguig - BGC (Bonifacio Global City) area or in Makati. Some are in Ortigas (Pasig City). Look for a place near where you'll spend most of your time, to avoid the crazy traffic. It's generally safe in Metro Manila. Just avoid going to areas that look dodgy.
