What's the best thing about living in Berlin? 🇩🇪

Hi! Berlin is one of my top cities in Teleport, but I find it's not always so easy to get a good sense of what makes a city great just by looking at data. Hence my question, what makes Berlin a great city to live in according to you?

• International: you can perfectly survive without German (as I do) and it's really easy to meet new people. It's a transition city meaning a lot of people are here for a short period of time while working for a startup.
• Cheap: housing is cheap if we compare it with London, Paris or Amsterdam and salaries are more than decent.
• Party: cheap alcohol, nightclubs open from Friday to Sunday... not to easy to get in though.
• Art scene: if you are into street art it's the place to be.
• Diverse: everybody is open minded, the city is super random and you can see really weird stuff.

A good mix if you don't care much about darkness and cold winters

I have one condition I am testing cities against which is: I need to be able to ride my bike home from a bar at 2 am.
It includes

• ability to ride a bike safely with proper bike lanes
• being able to live close to where bars and public places are
• not being mugged in the night
• not overly controlling police force

Just be warned, that finding an apartment is a real challenge.

Nightlife is definitely a big plus especially of you are into electronic music (house, techno, ...). Rent and food is still rather cheap compared to other metros and most people are really easy going. During summer it's probably the best city I have experienced so far. Winter can be tuff though: very greyish and cold.
