What's the weather like in Santiago?

From reading about Santiago it sounds like a warm, dry place, which is pretty far what I’m used to. Between that the different seasons, I’m wondering if it might be a bit too much for me to get used to. Would residents, especially non-natives, say that the weather is at least pleasant and makes Santiago a nice place to live?

After living there 2 years, I can say the weather is pleasant! Only problematic time is winter (June-August), when smog becomes an issue (when there has been not enough rain to clean the air). Summer can be hot during daytime (but not as hot as Madrid for example), but for the night it always cools down, which makes it easier to sleep. Also, as the air is very dry, the heat is bearable. Autumn (from March onwards) is the most pleasant.

In the summer it get warm with temperatures above 30C during the day, but it's a dry heat and almost never stuffy. At night it cools down and the temperature is not a problem for sleeping.

During winter very rarely you'll see temperatures around the freezing point, it's more likely in the area of 8-18C.

Santiago has a mountain climate, which means that there are considerable fluctuations between night and day temperatures.

Weather-wise, Santiago is an excellent place to live, for me at least, never too warm, never too cold.

Weather is pretty stable.we usually get 20-25 rainy days, and it's usually nice and clear. It does get cold in the morning, specially during the winter.
You should consider that buildings are well built but badly insulated, and AC is not that common. So you might be a little more exposed indoors that your are used to.

Santiago has actually a very special weather... its very hot in summer, and kinda cold in winter, temperatures ranges from -5 to 35 degrees celsius, as it is very dry, warm does not travel so far, so even in summer you can get cold on the shadows of the trees, there are jokes about the weather in Chile being very moody:
