I have a top 5 list. I like different places for different reasons, but they all have to meet the following criteria:
Good Food
Friendly Staff
Reasonable Prices
Relaxed Atmosphere
No Crowds
For cocktails: I like Noble Rot; though it started out as a wine bar, they have a fantastic array of high quality spirits. The mid-century modern vibe makes it easy to either dress up or down. Also, it's the best view on the east side.
For Food: Slow Bar takes this one. They have what I'd consider to be the best pulled pork in town, but everything on the menu is great. The jukebox is just stellar.
For Beer: Bailey's Taproom. A great space with a dizzying array of choices for whatever kind of brew your heart desires - One caveat, you have to order food from across the street, but they'll bring it to you at the bar, and it's delicious.
Favorite Dive: Shanghai Tunnel I love the idea of an underground bar. The artwork on the walls is stellar, and rotating pinball machines to top it off.
Favorite Overall: Muu Muu's I always come back to Muu Muu's. Food is consistently delicious, staff is super friendly and attentive. Feel is relaxed and atmosphere is cozy. They pour a stiff drink and have a good set of rotating taps.
