Which suburban towns around the Seattle area are most affordable, but still have character, culture, + fun things to do?
The nice areas are all pretty expensive. There's Fremont, Ballard, Capitol Hill and Belltown, depending on what you're looking for.
Would have named the same. "Affordable" is relative I guess.
The northern and southern areas are more affordable, although north is nicer and more family friendly. The Eastside (Bellevue) is just as expensive as the city.
Fremont, Ballard, Belltown and Capitol Hill are all urban neighborhoods. The OP asked about suburban towns in the region.
Tacoma is a city a bit smaller than Seattle, and doesn't have the vast cultural areas that Seattle has, but the North End of Tacoma is BEAUTIFUL, against the water (across the water from Seattle, and a ~40 min drive), and is exempt from the stigmatic association that South Tacoma has with crime.
