Would 50,000 ARS peso be enough to live?

I have a job offer Senior Java Developer 5 years experience for Buenos Aires with 50,000 ars peso pm. Is it Worth? What are monthly expenses in Buenos Aires.

Of course, it depends on your goals. $50k is a good salary but not a great one. Bear in mind that Argentina has huge inflation rates and those $50k can loose value very quickly.
Right not, $50.000 = U$D 1.600... that's not much.

Possible expenses:
Apartment: $11k - $16k
Food: $300 per day/ $500 some if you wanna dine out
Clothes are super expensive, a sweater can cost $3000 or $4000 arg pesos.
Education can be cheap, depends on what you wanna study.
(Can't think of any other item)

I'd recommend that you demand that your salary meets the inflation rate (it's a very common request)

I prefer to answer your question by giving you a rough conversion of that amount of pesos to dollars. Currently, the exchange rate is 1 U$S = 30 ARS (more or less). That means you would earn something around the lines of 1.666 dollars per month- and the pesos is depreciated by the day. I would say that a) it doesn't look like the salary of a Sr. Java Developer; b) you would also have to specify if this amount of money is before or after taxes. If it's not the case, you probably lose another 10-15 per cent, at least.

Are these money before or after taxes? If this is after taxes, then if you live alone (without family), this probably will be pretty enough, especially if your employer has a health insurance included. The renting prices depend on the neighborhood and the conditions, but most likely you will rent a studio or 1 bedroom flat which would start from $14-16k. The rest of money will be pretty enough to live alone, including traveling.
If you have family, this may be pretty tough, especially if you have kids. The kindergartens start from about $6-7k for 3-4 hours (whole day is obviously more expensive, as well as good schools). 2 or 3 bedroom will start from $25-27k (including expenses and services).
If this amount is before taxes, subtract about 20-22%.

Hi, First of all check if the salary will be net or gross (be carefull because companies will tell you always gross amount). Here you have to pay aproximately 16% from gross and a variable as income taxes (calculate monthly ARS 2000 aprox). Anyway with that kind of salary you can live ok, 1 person. In addition here you will have 13 salaries per year, because in June and December you´ll receive a 50% of the best salary in the semester as a plus.

Are they offering cover the expenses if you travel? are they offering a contract? I don´t know the regulations for foreigners in the last.

Take into consideration to negotiate extra hours and vacation (standard is 15 days per year) but if money not enaugh you can ask for 21 days as a compensation in negotiation. Ask for all the negotiated in writing.

If they are looking for people in India (?) is because they want to reduce costs and/or because ther are not able to cover the position locally. I think is the second and you can ask for more ARS as a Java Developer (I think 65000/75000 ARS, as I know is a difficult role to cover nowadays and they will negotiate if interested in your profile.

Argentina is a nice country to live in, but expensive because of inflation (25/30% annual). Do your math and ask when they´ll make a salary revision and how much was the last raise.

Anyway, also take this as an open gate. If you don´t do ok with this company you´ll have the chance of changing in the near future, As I said, companies are hungry for developers nowadays. So, don´t go crazy... you´ll be fine here

The short answer is yes, it will be enough to live comfortably. The long answer will depend on what kind of lifestyle are you considering, where would you like to rent, etc. If you give some more details I could expand my answer.

At the current currency exchange, 50K ARS/mo is around 1,600 USD/mo or 20K USD/yr. You can live on that salary, but it is not a well-paid job. Let's say that it is Ok. For that kind of money, you work and live in Buenos Aires for some time.

Take into account that the currency exchange is fluctuating... so it could quickly jump to 35 ARS / USD in a month. In any case, try to agree with the company a salary in USD dolars.

That salary is enough to live in Buenos Aires. The monthly expenses depend on the neighborhood where you live but you can estimate that you would have 20,000 Argentine pesos of expenses.

50000 pesos a month is an above average salary and certainly a livable one, but a good chunk of that will be rent (10k minimum). Still that leaves you with about 27k free to cover the rest which is more than enough. Half a dozen eggs cost about 25 pesos, a kilo of rice costs 75 and electricity and gas will vary between 300 and 1500 a month respectively. Meat costs about 120 per kg the cheaper cuts (cow)

Lets say that inbetween rent, power, gas, water, internet, phone service, food, and if you live in a building, you will have to pay the building expenses, that is paid inbetween all the apartments.
And if we put all that together it will be around 30000.

Hi, you should clarify the healthcare insurance as well. Most of employees offer it as an extra bonus. If not I do recommend u to get one.
Are you paid in USD or Pesos Argentinos? Inflation is over 30% per year so ask how often your salary (if in pesos) will be adequate to inflation.
Once you enter Argentina you will get a 30 days tourist Visa. I recommend you to to ask the Company to take care of the work permission Visa, it's a personal procedure but they can indicate you a professional who will assist you in the process and documents preparation. Company should also pay Visa costs.

I live outside the city but calculate 15.000 for a rent and rent expenses. it varies depending on the neighborhood but that should cover it for a single person ( I'm sure you can go lower if you have a roommate or you go to a hostel). After that take another 20.000 for food and transportation. I'm also exaggerating the number here, you can do with less.

35.000 pesos are more than twice the minimum wage here.

If you decide to move, ask again about some basic rules to avoid robbers. its not terribly, but a few tips wouldnt hurt.

After taxes, it is enough. Not terribly tempting for the IT sector, but it's enough. Should be adjusted for inflation, quarterly.
